Thai Riceberry Rice is a cross-bred, non-milled rice, possessing a dark violet grain. Riceberry Rice is a combination of Hom Nin Rice, with well-known antioxidant properties and Thai Hom Mali Rice, also known as Thai Jasmine/ Fragrant Rice or Khao Dawk Mali 105. Rice Berry contains three times more iron than other varieties. And not only does it contain high levels of antioxidants such as beta-carotene, gamma oryzanol, vitamin E and folic acid (folate) it also becomes soft and aromatic when cooked. What is Thai Riceberry?

Thai Riceberry rice is a registered rice variety from Thailand, a cross-breed of Jao Hom Nin (JHN), a local non-glutinous purple rice and Khoa Dawk Mali 105 (hom mali rice). It is a deep purple whole grain rice with softness and a palatable aftertaste. Riceberry has been a popular brown rice due to its health promoting properties. Inducing people to consume more brown rice could help ameliorate food-related chronic diseases like diabetes, heart disease, high blood cholesterol, obesity, and cancers.

Riceberry is grown primarily in north and northeastern Thailand. The wet season months of August through December are suitable for Riceberry planting.
